this is only a repost coming from
mr.christian
thanks him for the info of legit sources of kicks...

since I'm an aspiring Ind designer and one of the most popular topic that is being discussed in our classes is about china made products...
A designs being copied by china and sold for a cheaper price would be a pain in the ass for the company who sell these product as well as for the designer. I know they're really cheap but buying or supporting these items wouldn't also mean that you spent you're money wisely.

As themkicksmanila said "Times are hard with the economy going into recession and all, so cash has to be used wisely. So if you're dropping some digits on a fresh pair of kicks, go LEGIT! Quality alone can save us some more in the long run, that which we all could use to cop some more kicks!"  i also strongly suggest you guys to buy legit kicks. Not only you invested wisely but your money that you spent would be worthy unlike if spent those on china products, in a few months would be teared apart.  You guys are actually scammed because you may think you bought a similar product with a few thousands saved but when you used it for a month you may realize that you spent  a few thousands for nothing...

Another reason for buying legit kicks is you could actually resell them with or w/o the box...
(but most of the guys prefer 'em with the box...) short on cash? want a new one? resell those shoes...

I found this at the Core77 site, designers/design students read on:

All You Ever Needed to Know You Learned in...
1000 words for design students
by Allan Chochinov

There are a million things to learn in design school, but what about the things you need to know "about" design school? In an effort to be clear and concise—something your teachers are always bugging you to do—here are exactly 1000 words of advice for design students (clichés included):

[Keep your ear to the ground.]
The best gossip is any gossip. Start there and then do your homework. If a course or a teacher is reputed to be great, odds are that there's something there. Same for the inverse, but don't be dissuaded by advance reviews of a difficult or challenging teacher or course—sometimes the best fit is a tight one.

[Do your homework.]
There is no question that in design school, what you put in is what you get out. It's not exciting and it's not revelatory, but it really does turn out that the students who work the hardest and commit themselves the fullest end up with the best stuff. Inspiration and perspiration. You need 'em both.

[School is expensive. Come on time. Stay late.]
College in many countries is prohibitively expensive, so make sure you're getting your money's worth. Arrive on time and insist that your teachers do too. Stay after class and ask questions; find out about more than just what the class covered. Don't be a pest, but don't be a pushover either. Why? Here's why:

[We work for you, not the other way around.]
Teachers have an annoying habit of setting up the power dynamic to make you feel like they're in charge. I hate to roll out the "you are consumers of an educational product" argument, but the reality is that teachers, administrators, librarians and deans are all there in the first place because you decided to attend. And they really do work for you. So be clear about what you want and need, and team up with other students to make sure that those desires are communicated to the people in power. Use the library; ask for help. Make us work for you. You've already paid, right?

[Hone your presentation skills.]
Walking the walk and talking the talk are different skills. And no matter how good a designer you are, without a certain level of presentation skills, nobody will ever know. Practice public speaking, present your head off in class, and write, write, write. There is no underestimating the harm to your future that bad presentation skills can unleash. Really. You could stop reading this now and you'd have the best stuff.

If you do one thing in preparation for the new school year, buy a camera. We miss the old 35mm SLRs, but we're realists and recognize the irresistible benefits, instant gratification and economies of digital. Buy as many megapixels as you can, and if you can swing one of those sweet prosumer SLR digitals, do it. Make sure you bring your camera to class (not the expensive one though—your roommate's) and have fellow students photograph you presenting your work, conducting interviews, that kinda thing. Finally, have others take pictures of you making your models up in the shop. When you've looked at enough portfolios (car, toothbrush, chair, toy, form study, car, toothbrush, toy…), those "process" photos are positively the most exiting thing in your book to a jaded interviewer. "Did you make this model?" Well, yes. I did.

[Do more; consider auditing a class.]
"The people who do more are people who get more done." Duh. It's no secret that busy people often get a lot accomplished, and this is the same for students. Take an extra-curricular, non-design class (especially if grades aren't important/necessary for you), or, at the very least, consider auditing one course per semester. (Auditing a class means attending and doing the reading, but not taking up the teacher's time with homework, or taking up the class's time by asking questions. Get the word on the street, sit in during the first couple weeks of the semester, charm the pants off the teacher, and bask in the rays of someone telling you something you didn't already know. Most students aren't familiar with auditing, but it's offered in most schools.)

[Read the paper.]
This is the single best way to be and stay connected with the outside world. A killer-talented designer with nothing so say isn't much use to anyone (though the marketplace would expose the idealism of that argument!), and there's nothing more dangerous than an ignorant mass producer. If you live in a city that has a good newspaper, subscribe. If you don't, find a good one at your library, or read countless ones on the web for free. What's a good newspaper? The New York Times. There. That's a good one.

[Get off campus.]
School is great, and, after all, that's what you're doing there in the first place. But school design programs are kind of like the "official" program—the real stuff is happening by people who finished school (or often ignored it altogether), and your best investment is to connect with the communities of creative people who are doing design for a living and a life. Training in school is only part of the equation. Being submerged in the culture of design practice is where the real action is.

[Don't work alone.]
I know you know that design is a collaborative effort, so there's no reason why you shouldn't practice getting along with others while you're still in school. But that's not the real benefit of doing design homework with others: It's more fun. If you don't already know this, then you haven't done design work with others.

[Take almost any job.]
There is absolutely no replacement for the real thing, and practical experience in any design related field is more than you already have. So don't spend six months after you graduate looking for the perfect job. And, certainly, don't wait until you graduate to look for your first design job. You should be doing everything in your power to get some practical training onto your résumé and into your brain and hands before you graduate. That means helping out somewhere once a week, or bagging that summer internship. Do anything design-related. You'll be respected more by future employers, and have some chops by the time you get out.

retreat at calaruega...

i spent three days & two nights with a cold & a fever...
few people knew about it but i insist that i really wanted to join the retreat

day1:

day2:
si eric umiyak he3x
monks meal...
sori kung wala akong masabi kundi thank you... i'm not a speech person kasi eh but you can know how i appreciate you through my actions... i believe action speaks louder than words...
sayang ndi natuloy ung bonfire...
langya si jester he3x take 2 na ung exercise dance niya pero patok padin ha3x...

day 3:
pabaon...
superman and it's my life...
time capsule...
tska ung animal na parang acupanture?
he3x

ang galing ng speaker namin! every word he says really inspires and makes us do whatever activity he tells us to do... napakagaling niyang adviser... parang gusto ko nga siyang kunin sa kasal ko pati na mismo dun nadin gawin eh he3x
anyways very memorable na retreat to dahil sa kanya!
another thing is that ndi nauubusan ng pagkain he3x every 3 hours siguro pinapakain kami... buti na lang may sakit ako kay puro soup ang gs2 ko he3x
well the main reason for the retreat is for us to have REST!
kasi nga dahil sa thesis he3x kaya mga tao ngarag at walang iniisip kundi thesis kaya but na lang may retreat for us to have a break...

at yun nga pahinga at saya ang nangyari kaya okey! kahit may sakit ako eh okey naman bitin lang dahil hindi ako pwedeng maging magaslaw nun he3x at ayun ndi ako nakakulit he3x pero okey na okey!

babalik din ako dun ulit in time... hmMm

pagkauwi...

back to reality nanaman... he3x

just tryin' to remember the good days with these guys...

Word spreads around fast and almost everyone has already heard about what happened to our dear friend, Tara Santelices (Assumption Antipolo’s Batch 2003 and Ateneo de Manila University’s Class of 2007, AB Political Science).

On the eve of her 23rd birthday, Tara was shot in the head during a hold-up while riding a jeepney along Imelda Avenue, Cainta, Rizal. Joee Mejias, who was with her at that time, rushed her to Amang Rodriguez Memorial Hospital in Marikina City. The parents of Tara and Joee arrived at the hospital shortly thereafter. When morning came, Tara’s parents finally decided to transfer her to the Medical City, Ortigas Avenue, Pasig City. Since 8:00am of August 6, Tara has been in the ICU fighting for her dear life. Her parents have decided not to push through with the operation.

Although it might seem that there is nothing else that we can do but wait for Tara to wake up from this horrific nightmare, we, the friends of Tara, have decided to raise funds for Tara’s hospital bills. This is the least we can do to ease the unbearable pain her family is going through. I'd like to help them in my own little way, i hope you guys would help too, thanks and God bless

my friend Happy is selling shirts in order to raise funds for our friend Tara's medical bills.  If there is also anyone out there who could give some generous donations of any amount.
You can find these shirts at F*ART Fashion ART located at K-D cor K1st Kamuning Q.C.

For inquiries, please contact Joee Mejias (09228154987) for calls and Jac Ledonio (09167243071) or Myka Francisco (09163695148) for text messages

every-time we see a movie that portrays the future, their cars are either floating or having a rocket
in the '90's we said that by the year 2010 our cars would probably floating...
but it's now 2008 and 2009 is fast approaching
and before we know it another decade had passed by
and were are we know?
are we near the future where the people travel in floating car...
are we living in the future just as we thought it to be...
are we near in living in another planet..
I've just been in the 2nd Philippine Int. Motor Show (PIMS)
and it was depressing because i thought that they would show more concept cars than last year,
but they didn't... almost all of the cars that we've seen were production lines...
though sulking over not seeing concept cars, the show was excellent.
As what I've seen, we're nowhere near a future that cars would fly and in-fact i think we are still a 100 years or never before we can see a car fly..
why?
As much as we would like to think that in the future we could drive cars that would fly or travel using a tube just like in Futurama, anything of that wouldn't happen because as of today we are living in a world that petroleum would cost you as much as buying gold. Some see that in the future we would leave planet earth and live in another planet but how can it be done if thousand of liters of gas is being consumed just to transport a few people and we are in a point were gas is scarce.
Hybrids are made, even magnets can be another technology than be used just like in a maglev train but are we near it. I may be wrong but this are just thoughts that ran into me as i remember when I was in grade school that our teacher told us to write an essay on what do we see about the future. As much as we like there are a lot of possibilities, even movies take their own point of view on how they vision about the future
but are we really near it as we thought about it to be?
or are we going into a future where it goes another way around just as the movie wall-e would have portrayed it to be wherein our would would be a great pile of junk...

damn! movies are really corrupting my mind he3x...
-pls. update me on when, where and how much are the tickets gonna be on the e-head concert!!! if you're gonna watch, sama ako! he3x
